Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964, is a Danish actor. He was in the role of Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock), the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He received the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011 at the age of 27. In 1995, he was admitted to the National Theatre School of Denmark. He was also in The Killing's drama. Then, he was a part of Borgen III and Those Who Kill as well as Those Who Kill. Both were highly acclaimed Danish dramas. He also played a lead role in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American television show House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. In 2018 he was honored with an International Emmy Award. His part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje was rewarded with an International Emmy Award. The show was broadcast in the UK in 2019, as Ride Upon the Storm.
