Reese Witherspoon

Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born March 22, 1976 was an American actress. She has been awarded numerous accolades such as an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her as one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in the years 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Forbes named her the most powerful actress in the world with an estimated total worth of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career when she was a teenager, and made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). Her breakout came in 1999 with her role as a support in Cruel Intentions as well as her performance as Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. Her fame grew with the role of Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel in 2003, and for her role in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). In 2005, she earned praise from critics and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a slump in her career that included Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box office success, Witherspoon decided to make an comeback to the industry and produce and star as Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film earned her a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she's been working mostly in television, producing and appearing in numerous female-led adaptations of literary works under the banner of her company Hello Sunshine. These include Big Little Lies, an HBO drama series (2017-2019), The Morning Show which is an Apple TV+ drama series (2019-present) and Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The first she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited Series. She also produced the adaptations to film of Gone Girl (2014) as in Where the Crawdads Sing (1922). Witherspoon also owns Draper James clothing company and is involved in advocacy groups for children and women. She is on the Children's Defense Fund's board and has been named Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007. In that capacity, she also acts as chair honorary for Avon Foundation's charitable foundation devoted to women's issues.
