Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children who would grow up in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of her difficulties by using her rich and imaginative imagination. Before she was able to read and write she was making up the songs she wrote herself. The guitar that she first received was presented to her at the age of eight. She started singing at a Knoxville Tenn station by the age of 11. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. Even though she became popular in the local scene while she was at the high school years, her goals were bigger. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated in the years prior to this. Parton accepted the job in 1967 signed to RCA Records in 1968 and joined in the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. She left Wagoner's show, but in 1974, because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner was the one to write"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and had it reach Number. This was the first time a single was able to reach No.
