Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of the football scholarship of his parents and a commitment in the local community. The first is the Selmon familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids in a Eufala farm. Two football. He is one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the United States. During his three years as the starting quarterback for Oklahoma The Sooners recorded a 32-1-1 record and captured two national titles. In 1975, he was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was named a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week as a volunteer in college. Then he settled in Tampa after college, playing for the Buccaneers for nine seasons and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 young stars throughout the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the team. In 1993 he was appointed as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
